Customising Your Floor – Made Simple

At For the Floor & More, custom doesn’t mean complicated.
Almost all of our designs can be adjusted — whether that’s softening a colour, dialling up the drama, or resizing the pattern to suit your space perfectly.

If you’ve ever looked at one of our floors and thought, “I love it… but what if it was a bit more me?” — you’re exactly who this page is for.

What Can Be Customised?

Most of our patterns can be:

• Scaled up or down (bigger statement or more subtle repeat)
• Recoloured (from gentle neutrals to bold, unapologetic hues)
• Tweaked to complement your cabinetry, walls, tiles or fabrics

Because every floor is produced to your room size anyway, adjusting the design is a natural part of what we do.

How to Customise an Existing Design

You don’t need to be technical. Truly.

All we need is a clear idea of what you’d like to change.

You can send us:

• A paint brand link
• A Pantone reference
• A HEX code
• A photo of something you want to match
• Or even pop a sample in the post — we’ve colour-matched from all sorts over the years.

If it helps, a quick scribble or screen grab is perfect. Circle the parts you want changed. Add arrows. Write “this bit darker” or “swap this for sage green”. It doesn’t need to be pretty — just clear enough for us to understand your vision.

Then simply:

• Email it over, or
• Add the details in the message box when ordering

We’ll take it from there.

What We Need From You (Quick Checklist)

To customise one of our designs:

• Order the ‘standard’ design at the size needed
• The colours you’d like to change (and where)
• Any references (links, codes, photos, scribbles)

That’s it.

And yes — we’ll guide you if you’re unsure.

Is There a Charge for Customising?

No.
Tweaking scale or colour on our existing designs is completely free. It’s part of what makes us different.
We want you to end up with a floor that feels intentional — not “that’ll do”.

A Note on Colour Matching

We work incredibly closely to your references, but because flooring, paint, screens and printed materials all behave slightly differently, we can’t promise a 100% identical match.

That said — we’ve always been very close if your info is accurate. And if you’re concerned, we’re happy to talk it through before production.

Supplying Your Own Artwork (Full Custom Design)

If you’re creating something entirely bespoke — artwork, branding, illustrations, murals — we can produce flooring using that too.

To keep things running smoothly, we ideally need:

• • A file already sized to your required floor dimensions
    (or at least sized proportionally to the correct ratio)
  • File format: .eps or .pdf
  • If sending a PDF:
    • No dimension larger than 30,000px
    • Preferably in CMYK colour format

If that sounds like another language — don’t worry. Just get in touch and we’ll explain exactly what’s needed for your specific project.
It’s much simpler than it sounds, and if you need help, there are many cost-effective designers online at sites like Upwork and Fiverr who will be able to create files from any images or ideas that you have.
